Long Beach, California. Porsche swept both IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship classes on Saturday at the Grand Prix of Long Beach, with the Porsche Penske Motorsport No. 7 963 taking its third win of the season and the No. 177 Porsche 911 GT3 R from AO Racing earning victory in the GT Daytona class. The win was the third in three races to open the season for the championship-leading No. 7 with Felipe Nasr (Brazil) and Nick Tandy (Great Britain) behind the wheel.

Nasr and Tandy continue to hold the championship lead with three wins in three races to open the season, following victory in endurance races at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring earlier this year. The sister No. 6 Porsche 963, driven by Mathieu Jaminet and Matt Campbell, finished second for Porsche Penske Motorsport.

Factory driver Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium), who teamed with Nasr and Tandy to win the endurance races to open the season, made a guest appearance in the dinosaur-livery “Rexy” in the GTD class with Jonny Edgar and earned the class victory. The No. 120 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R driven by Southern Californians Adam Adelson and Elliott Skeer finished seventh.
